Happy Valentine’s Day!
Creative way to decorate an IKEA shelf.
I know this looks like a bunch of 1x4s on brackets but it is actually recycled Ikea bed slats (Which apparently sell or 10 dollars a pack) and Ikea wall brackets (2/$1 definitely not a CDN price). Love a good reuse in the morning.
DIY IKEA STYLE // the many uses for the VURM 4-bottle wine rack
I have seen this wine rack be used for so many different things. Its simple, elegant design and versatility of being able to be mounted on the wall or laid on its side lends itself to so many design/decor opportunities.
Paper/Drawing Organizer // At my local IKEA, the VURM wine rack was shown mounted on the wall of a bedroom/office display holding rolled-up drawings. As an architecture student with an abundant of drawings and lack of safe storage for them, I thought this was brilliant! They are not stuffed in a closet in harm’s way and are easily accessible.
Towel Rack // Mount this in your bathroom and use it to hold clean washcloths, hand towels, and small bath towels while freeing up space in the linen closet. With your towels out on display, not only are they easily accessible (especially for guests) but it adds pops of color and texture to your wall without needing to hang up artwork.
Closet Organization // I recall flipping through a People: Style Watch magazine a while back (the one magazine I buy religiously) and seeing this wine rack featured in a home organization article. It was being used in a similar fashion to the towel rack idea but it held rolled-up pairs of jeans. Depending on how many pairs of jeans you have this seems pretty inefficient, but hey - I figured I’d share the thought. Since jeans can get bulky in a drawer or even hanging in a closet, putting them up on the wall gives them and your other clothes room to breath. Oooor it will just open up more space to buy new clothes. :)

One thing that I’ve always wanted to get my hands on to do a DIY with is a wood pallet. I must make it so!
